Laboratory models of lung disease often apply a stimulus to a healthy animal, which does not really mimic the complexity of human disease. The model here describes that prior stimulus with a chemical (MCT) - known to elicit progressive cardiovascular changes - predisposes to altered lung responses to a subsequent pathogen stimulus (LPS). This offers a laboratory model that incorporates the biological history of an animal, which impacts how the lung responds to a pathogen. The results here are described in the manuscript 10.64898/2025.12.21.695829. The raw data and metadata have been successfully uploaded to NCBI. The Bioproject Accession is: PRJNA1383992.
