X-ray Spectroscopy of Low-Luminosity Active Galactic Nuclei with XMM

We propose to use {\\it XMM} to perform Xray spectroscopy on the nucleiof several nearby galaxies which harbor lowluminosity active galacticnuclei (LLAGN; NGC 4736, NGC 5033, and NGC 1052). {\\it ASCA}observations of these and other LLAGN suggest iron emissionlineproperties quite different from those of luminous Seyfert galaxies.{\\it XMM} will provide definitive measurements of the iron line propertiesin these systems (physical line width, equivalent width, centroidenergy).
