Transcriptome profiling of hippocampal tissue from patients with mesial temporal sclerosis with and without human herpesvirus-6B

Mesial temporal sclerosis (MTS) is an intractable epilepsy for which temporal lobectomy is effective. Human herpesvirus 6B (HHV-6B) establishes latency in the hippocampus and may contribute to MTS development by modifying host gene expression. However, comprehensive transcriptomic analyses of healthy controls are limited. Therefore, this study investigated the contribution of HHV-6B to MTS pathogenesis by analyzing gene expression in resected brain tissues.
