This is a qualitative phenomenological study to explore the participants’ experiences with the academic support offered by the college during the COVID-19 lockdown. The population in this study were 194 level 3 students who were enrolled in the course “Course leading to registration in the category Staff Nurse (General Nurse)” at a public nursing college in Gauteng in 2020. Non-probability purposive sampling was used to select 14 participants who met the inclusion criteria. The researcher interviewed fourteen voluntary participants. The researcher conducted unstructured face-to-face interviews, to collect in-depth and rich information to answer the study question. The fundamental research question was how undergraduate nursing students experienced the academic support offered during COVID-19 lockdown in a public college in Gauteng. Thematic data analysis was done using Colaizzi steps of data analysis. Different color codes were used to categorize data. Data was collected for two weeks from fourteen individual interviews with level three students enrolled for the course at four campuses of a selected public college in Gauteng. The duration of each interview lasted between 30-60 minutes. Information was collected until data saturation was reached.

本研究为质性现象学研究,旨在探索参与者在新冠疫情封控期间对某高校所提供学术支持的体验。本研究的研究总体为2020年在南非豪登省(Gauteng)一所公立护理学院注册修读"通往注册护士(普通护士)职级课程"的194名三级护理学生。研究采用非概率目的性抽样法,选取14名符合纳入标准的参与者。研究者对14名自愿参与的参与者开展了非结构化面对面访谈,以收集详实丰富的信息来解答研究问题。本研究的核心研究问题为:豪登省某公立护理学院的本科护理学生,在新冠疫情封控期间对其所获学术支持的体验如何。研究采用科莱齐(Colaizzi)数据分析步骤开展主题数据分析,通过不同颜色编码对数据进行分类。本次数据收集工作为期两周,对象为豪登省某公立护理学院四个校区修读该课程的三级护理学生,共完成14次个体访谈。每次访谈时长为30至60分钟,数据收集工作直至达到数据饱和为止。
