Genome sequences of Ralstonia solanacearum infecting ginger plants

Ralstonia solanacearum infects more than 200 species. The infection mechanism is mainly studied in Solanaceae plants, such as tomato, eggplants, and tobacco. R. solanacearum strains can infect ginger plants, such as ginger, myoga, and kurukuma. The infection mechanism seems to be different from that for Solanaceae plant. However, little is known. The first step for the investigation of the strains infecting ginger plants could be the comparison of genome sequences of Solanaceae strains and ginger strains. We are determining the complete genome sequences of several ginger strains in this study. There are many complete genome sequences of strains infecting Solanaceae plants. We will compare sequences of these and find out differences to determine the factors specific for ginger strains.
