The experiment took place on November 15th and 22nd. The materials were; two transects, twenty-four pans (eight yellow, eight white, eight blue), soapy water and strainer. Day One of the experiment will be divided into two sections, mowed/unmowed grassland treatment, and performed in the same way for each. A transect will be randomly laid in a straight line among each grassland treatment at the exact same time. Four of each pan color (white, blue and yellow) will be placed 1m apart along each transect, for a total 12 pans per transect. The order of color along the transect will be white, blue and yellow respectively, and this is repeated four times. Once soapy water is poured into each pan the timer begins and the results are collected after an hour. After the hour’s conclusion the soapy water is finally poured through a strainer and the insect abundance determined. The experiment is repeated a second time with the transect location randomly selected. Day Two of the experiment follows the same method.

本实验于11月15日与22日分两次开展,实验材料包括:两条样带(transect)、24个诱捕托盘(pans,其中黄色、白色、蓝色各8个)、肥皂水与滤网。首次实验(11月15日)分为刈割草地与未刈割草地两个处理组,两组操作流程完全一致:首先在每个草地处理区内于同一时刻随机布设一条直线样带,沿每条样带以1米间距放置白、蓝、黄三色托盘各4个,单条样带总计放置12个托盘,样带上的托盘颜色排布顺序依次为白色、蓝色、黄色,该序列重复四次;向每个托盘内注入肥皂水后启动计时器,1小时后收集实验样本,计时结束后将各托盘内的肥皂水通过滤网过滤以测定昆虫丰度。第二次实验于11月22日开展,本次实验随机选取样带位置,其余操作流程与首次实验完全一致。
