Falling Number (FN) is used as the international standard for determining pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) in wheat grain, however the trait of Late Maturity alpha-Amylase (LMA) also causes low falling number. LMA is currently not prevalent in Australian milling wheats due to WQA classification standards. However, due to the difficulty in selecting for LMA resistant wheats, this process results in breeders discarding a large proportion of genetic diversity that could be used to improve the rate of genetic gain for yield and other traits. Recent investment by GRDC and CSIRO has identified genetic deletions of key genes in the LMA pathway, providing an easy way that breeders could protect against LMA in their programs. This project will undertake validation of these mutants and ensure the trait is combined with appropriate agronomic performance and grain quality to expedite the use of the invention by breeders.\nLineage: Six wheat lines (Chara B1n-LMA, Chara B23n-LMA, Chara A12n-LMA, Chara An-LMA, Chara Bn-LMA, and Chara Dn-LMA) from heavy ion bombardment population in Chara wheat background (Triticum aestivum) and four wheat varieties (Chara, Seri, Raider, and Scepter) were grown in 1) growth cabinet, glasshouse, and field.\nThe complete dataset is composed of the following files and folders:\n1. 降落数值(Falling Number,FN)是测定小麦籽粒收获前穗发芽(pre-harvest sprouting,PHS)的国际通用标准指标,但迟熟α-淀粉酶(Late Maturity alpha-Amylase,LMA)性状同样会导致降落数值偏低。目前受澳大利亚小麦品质认证(Wheat Quality Australia,WQA)分类标准约束,LMA在澳大利亚磨粉小麦中并不常见。然而,由于抗LMA小麦的选育难度较高,育种家往往会丢弃大量具备潜在育种价值的遗传多样性资源,而这些资源本可用于提升产量及其他性状的遗传增益速率。近年来,谷物研发与开发公司(GRDC)与澳大利亚联邦科学与工业研究组织(CSIRO)的相关投资已成功定位到LMA通路关键基因的遗传缺失位点,为育种家在育种项目中防控LMA提供了简便可行的技术方案。本项目将对上述突变体开展验证工作,并确保该性状与优良农艺表现及籽粒品质相结合,以加快育种家对该技术成果的应用推广。 品系谱系:以普通小麦(Triticum aestivum)品种Chara为遗传背景的重离子轰击诱变群体中,选育得到6份小麦材料(Chara B1n-LMA、Chara B23n-LMA、Chara A12n-LMA、Chara An-LMA、Chara Bn-LMA及Chara Dn-LMA),另有4份小麦品种(Chara、Seri、Raider及Scepter)。上述材料分别在生长箱、温室与田间三种环境下完成种植。 完整数据集由以下文件及文件夹组成: 1. 标记开发(Marker-Development) 2. 杂交记录(Crossing-Records) 3. 生化分析(Biochemical-Analysis) 4. 农艺性状分析(Agronomical-Trait-Analysis)
