A debris flow was caused by heavy storm occurred in the Thomas Fire burned area in early 2018, and large amount of debris sediments were dumped at Goleta Beach, Goleta CA. To understand the potential risk for human health and the impacts on the surf zone water quality, the microbial community in sediments, surf zone and some background marine water samples collected before sediment disposal were sequenced by 16S rRNA.

2018年初,托马斯火灾(Thomas Fire)过火区域遭遇强暴雨,引发泥石流,大量碎屑沉积物堆积于加利福尼亚州戈利塔市的戈利塔海滩(Goleta Beach)。为厘清该事件对人类健康的潜在风险以及近岸冲浪区水质的影响,研究人员对沉积物、冲浪区水体以及沉积物处置前采集的部分背景海水样本中的微生物群落,采用16S核糖体RNA(16S rRNA)测序技术进行了分析。
