Eriocheir sinensis Transcriptome or Gene expression

The Chinese mitten crab, Eriocheir sinensis is is a medium-sized burrowing crab, it is native in the coastal estuaries of eastern Asia. Mitten crabs spend most of their life in fresh water, but they must return to the sea to breed. The testis is a highly specialized tissue that plays dual roles in ensuring fertility by producing spermatozoa and hormones. The gene expression pattern of testis in Chinese mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis) has not been extensively studied, and limited genetic research has been performed on this species. Using Illumina sequencing, we are able to get abundant EST data from the testis organism for the de novo transcriptome analysis.
