This study had the aims of (i) identifying the single-celled protist assemblages in the superficial sediments of Italian Mediterranean regional seas, (ii) relating their structure with depth and (iii) inspecting if differences are existing between the Mediterranean sub-regions, investigating also the trophic level.本研究旨在实现以下三项目标：(i) 探明意大利地中海海域表层沉积物中的单细胞原生生物（single-celled protist）群落组成；(ii) 厘清其群落结构与水深的关联关系；(iii) 探究地中海各子区域间是否存在群落差异，并同步开展营养级相关研究。
