MGREGA RURAL EMPLOYMENT GENERATION PROGRAMME-A REVIEW

MGNREGAis one of the flagship poverty alleviation programme of the government and has been taken very well across the country. It is a symbol of the government’s seriousness in achieving the goals mentioned in the directive principles of state policy. It is one of the most important legislation which has made demand for and getting it a matter of right. It has checked the migratory tendencies from the villages to the cities thereby easing pressure on the urban infrastructure. It has been successful in checking intra-state migration and has helped in realizing the goal of balanced regional development. It has given the subsistence to those teeming millions who were otherwise in perils for want of job or work to meet their both ends. It provides an alternative source of livelihood which will have an impact on restricting child labour and making villages self sustaining through productive assists creation like road construction, cleaning up of water tanks, soil and water conservation work, construction of lanes, drains.
