Subfunctionalization of Xenopus laevis myod1 genes

The African clawed frog Xenopus laevis has experienced recent allopolyploidization, which gave rise to pairs of highly homologous genes. We examined the degree of functional overlap between the duplicated myod1 genes using over expression in Xenopus laevis followed by RNA-seq. Stage 11 embryos derived from eggs injected with synthetic mRNA of Xlmyod1-L, Xlmyod1-S and X.tropicalis myod1 together with corresponding uninjected embryos.非洲爪蟾（Xenopus laevis）近期经历了异源多倍化事件，由此产生了多对高度同源的基因。本研究通过在非洲爪蟾中开展过表达实验并结合RNA测序（RNA-seq），探究了重复的myod1基因之间的功能重叠程度。实验所用的11期胚胎分别源自注射了非洲爪蟾Xlmyod1-L、Xlmyod1-S以及热带爪蟾（Xenopus tropicalis）myod1的合成信使RNA（synthetic mRNA）的卵，同时设置了对应的未注射胚胎作为对照。
