Former Dunmow Skips site, Station Road, Felsted, Essex. Archaeological Evaluation (OASIS ID: heritage1-183347)

In order to characterise the archaeological potential of land located at the former Dunmow Skips site, Essex, the Heritage Network was commissioned by Dunmow Skips Ltd, to undertake an archaeological field evaluation. This work was a requirement of the planning consent granted by the local planning authority. The northern half of the site was occupied by an old quarry and the southern half was covered by concrete hardstanding, a former waste transfer station and skip hire business. Prior to the excavation of the eight proposed evaluation trenches, the removal of the hardstanding was monitored. During this process it became clear no potential archaeological finds or horizons survive on the site.

为评估埃塞克斯郡原邓莫清运（Dunmow Skips）场地的考古潜力，邓莫清运有限公司委托遗产网络（Heritage Network）开展考古野外评估工作。此项工作为当地规划主管部门核发规划许可所规定的必要条件。场地北部曾为旧采石场，南部被混凝土硬地坪覆盖，原系废料转运站及废料清运租赁业务场地。在开挖8条预设评估探沟前，对混凝土硬地坪的拆除作业实施了监测。在此过程中确认，该场地未留存任何具有考古价值的遗存或考古地层。
