The purpose of this data set was to measure how the expression of proteins in rectal biopsies is affected by use of oral tenofovir disoproxil fumarate/emtricitabine for prevention of HIV infection. Proteins were measured by mass spectrometry from samples taken from the MTN-017 study at baseline and after two months of daily oral tenofovir disoproxil fumarate/emtricitabine. In the raw_data tab, each row is a sample. There are several columns describing each sample and then many columns containing the expression level for each detected protein. Expression levels were adjusted for batch effects using ComBat. In the protein_lookup tab, there is one row per protein detected, mapping from UniProt ID to gene symbol and Entrez Gene ID.
