Land at Station Road, Honeybourne, Worcestershire (WSM49638)

This job contained an excavation and an earthwork survey. 1. Will refer to the excavation, 2. To the earthwork survey: <br> <br> 1. An archaeological excavation was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in August-September 2013 at Land at Station Road, Honeybourne, Worcestershire. The area of excavation measured 50m by 30m and was placed to further investigate the features found in the evaluation. <br> <br> Four ditches were identified (A-D), expanding on the results of the evaluation and providing a chronology for three episodes of Roman activity at the site. Drainage ditches A and B were observed running southwards towards the Gate Inn Brook. Ditch A was cut by ditch C, a more substantial drainage feature on a north-west/south-east alignment. Ditch C was superseded by ditch D, a rectilinear drainage ditch that also cut ditch B and carried water southwards. Medieval ridge and furrow was recorded across the site and the remnants of a historic orchard were observed atop the medieval ridges. <br> <br> 2. An archaeological earthwork survey was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in August 2013 on Land at Station Road, Honeybourne. <br> <br> The earthwork survey recorded a series of east/west aligned linear features which represent evidence of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation.

1. 2013年8—9月，科茨沃尔德考古（Cotswold Archaeology）在伍斯特郡霍尼伯恩镇车站路地块开展考古发掘工作。发掘区域面积为50米×30米，旨在进一步探明勘探评估中发现的遗迹现象。
本次发掘共识别出编号为A至D的四条沟渠，丰富了勘探评估的成果，并为遗址三处罗马时期活动阶段建立了年代序列。观察到排水渠A与B自北向南流向盖特因溪（Gate Inn Brook）。沟渠A被沟渠C打破，沟渠C为一处规模更大的排水设施，走向为西北—东南向。沟渠C之后被沟渠D取代，后者为一处矩形排水渠，同时打破了沟渠B并向南输水。遗址范围内还记录有中世纪垄作田（ridge and furrow）遗迹，且在中世纪垄脊上发现了一处古果园遗存。

2. 2013年8月，科茨沃尔德考古（Cotswold Archaeology）在霍尼伯恩镇车站路地块开展考古地貌调查工作。
本次地貌调查共记录了一系列东西走向的线性遗迹，这些遗迹为中世纪垄作田（ridge and furrow）耕作方式的实物佐证。
