Fe5GeTe2 is a new 2d ferromagnet with high Curie temperature. Co doping is predicted to enhance the ferromagnetic transition even more. However it is difficult to establish which among the different Fe species is the main responsible for the stabilization of the ferromagnetic ground state and which of them is replaced by the Co atoms. A study of the dd excitations in the material, which are related to the crystal field interactions, will help us to propose some hypothesis.

Fe₅GeTe₂是一种新型二维铁磁材料,具备较高的居里温度(Curie temperature)。经预测,钴掺杂可进一步强化其铁磁相变效应。然而目前仍难以确定,该材料中不同的铁物种里,哪一种是铁磁基态稳定化的主要贡献者,同时也无法明确哪些铁位点会被钴原子取代。针对该材料中与晶体场相互作用相关的d-d激发展开研究,将有助于我们提出相关科学假说。
