Unearthing Objects, Discovering Stories, and Retelling Lives

This introduction reflects on some of the topics raised in the special issue, especially how we tell—or retell—lives by discovering often long-hidden stories, and by unearthing objects thought to have been lost forever. The narrative presented here brings several stories together itself: that of the Doves type and its story of “lost and found”; that of the making of the special issue; and, even if briefly, that of Nicosia, the city that hosted the conference where several of this issue's contributions were shared for the first time.本引言旨在反思本期特刊所探讨的若干议题，尤其是我们如何通过发掘长期隐匿的故事、重见那些本以为永久遗失的文物，来讲述乃至重新讲述人生历程。本次呈现的叙事本身融合了三段故事：一是多夫字体（Doves type）及其“失而复得”的过往；二是本期特刊的编纂历程；即便仅作简要提及，还有尼科西亚的故事——这座城市曾举办首次分享本特刊多篇投稿稿件的学术会议。
