The gut is populated by trillions of microbial cells, mainly bacteria that, by symbiotic in-teraction with their host, play important roles in human health. Gut dysbiosis might con-tribute to carcinogenesis by inducing aberrant intestinal immune activation, local and systemic inflammation.
