The riparian vegetation of the Meia Ponte River basin, in the southern Goiás Cerrado, is undergoing continuous fragmentation and environmental isolation. This process threatens local biodiversity and exacerbates the water crisis, prompting this investigation into the association between phytosociological, taxonomic, and floristic diversity patterns and the degradation of riparian communities in the Lower Meia Ponte sub-region. We analyzed 32 transects (20m x 4m) in the riparian vegetation of four watercourses, using diversity indices and morphological analyses for taxonomic identification. A total of 152 species (57 families) were identified, with the highest richness found in the Bom Jardim Stream. The Shannon index (H') indicated higher floristic complexity in the Formiga Stream (H'=3.32) and Bom Jardim Stream (H'=2.38). Evenness was higher in the Congo Stream (J'=0.81) and lower in the Serra Stream (J'=0.50), a pattern also observed in the Jentsch's Mixing coefficient. Floristic similarity ranged from 17% to 22%. The observed floristic heterogeneity, with high species richness and variability, indicates an association between species distribution and anthropogenic impacts. This association may result in biodiversity loss and a worsening water crisis in the Meia Ponte River basin.
