The present study explores the bacterial community and markers of antimicrobial resistance in a poultry slaughterhouse wastewater treatment plant and along the river receiving the effluent. Samples were collected in biological triplicate in the (i) upstream river, in (ii) raw sewage and (iii) treated effluent from a wastewater treatment plant, and at (iv) three downstream points in the river. Samples were collected in two different periods, considering the high and low slaughter production of the plant. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of the removal of resistance genes by the biological treatment applied in the wastewater treatment plant and the effects of this treatment on the structure and composition of the bacterial community.

本研究聚焦某家禽屠宰场污水处理厂及其受纳河流中的细菌群落与抗菌素耐药性(antimicrobial resistance)标志物展开调研。研究针对四类采样位点均采集三份生物学重复样本:(i) 河流上游区域、(ii) 污水处理厂原污水、(iii) 污水处理厂处理后出水,以及(iv) 河流下游三处点位。采样覆盖两个不同时期,分别对应该屠宰场的高、低屠宰产能工况。本研究的核心目标为评估该污水处理厂采用的生物处理工艺对抗耐药基因的去除效率,以及该处理工艺对细菌群落结构与组成的影响。
