The three sisters discussed how to run. Long ago, we could communicate with everything. So the sisters placed a needle on a paddy mortar. 母亲抵达稻田劳作之际，虎妖一路尾随，将其吞食。这虎妖乃是邪祟所化，早已知晓家中尚有三位孩童，遂径直前往姐妹三人的居所。虎妖来到门前，佯装道："孩儿们，母亲回来了。"长女玛卡心道："母亲曾告诫我们不可开门，绝不能轻信。"虎妖见未得逞，又喊道："孩儿们，母亲回来了。"姐妹三人遂问道："若是我们的母亲，便让我们看看你的眼睛。"虎妖遂化作母亲模样，将眼睛凑近门缝向内窥视。长女见状说道："这不是我们母亲的眼睛，你的眼睛通红一片，母亲的眼睛绝非如此，你定然不是我们的母亲。"虎妖连忙辩解："说得没错，我在稻田摘辣椒时揉了眼睛，故而双眼灼热发红。"聪慧的玛卡又说道："既如此，便让我们看看你的双手。"虎妖伸出双手，只见其上毛发浓密，指甲修长。玛卡见状便知："这绝非母亲的双手。"

虎妖在门外反复呼喊，直至声嘶力竭，遂破门而入，却发现屋内空无一人。于是虎妖一路追赶，最终追上了三姐妹。姐妹三人惊慌失措，不知如何是好。玛卡让玛鲁带着油桶边跑边拎。三姐妹慌乱之中爬上一棵大树，全都爬到了树顶。虎妖也紧随其后追至树下。长女知晓虎妖会爬树，便让玛鲁将随身携带的油从树上泼下。油液流淌使得树干变得湿滑，虎妖无法再向上攀爬。
虎妖只得趴在树下，满脸哀求道："孩儿们，母亲也想跟着你们，让我跟上你们吧，求求你们帮帮我，我会跟紧你们的。"虎妖不断哀求，年幼的玛罗伊心地善良，便对虎妖说道："母亲，我家中有一把斧头，你回去取来，在树上凿出踏脚的台阶，便能爬上来了。"虎妖闻言便返回取来斧头，在树干上砍出踏脚的台阶。当虎妖即将砍完台阶，就要爬到树顶时，姐妹三人再次陷入绝望，齐声祈祷："请救救我们。"
