This third-generation reanalysis product boasts an improved spatial resolution of 0.5° compared with NCEP reanalysis, which facilitates local-scale research. It features advancements in the coupled ocean-land-atmosphere-sea ice model, a more advanced data assimilation system, and assimilates all available traditional and satellite observational data, with satellite data having undergone error correction. The atmospheric components include CO₂ variability, aerosols, other trace gases, and solar variations. Preliminary analysis results show that the quality of this product far exceeds most other reanalysis datasets from the mid-1990s.
