Venison sales value in Japan FY 2017-2022

In fiscal year 2022, the sales value of deer meat at processing facilities in Japan amounted to around 1.9 billion Japanese yen. Venison is a major type of game meat consumed in Japan along with wild boars. Wild deer are culled to reduce animal populations that damage crop fields and to keep the natural balance of forests in check.
