RNA sequencing data was acquired in an effort to uncover more about the malaria parasite P. falciparum and the mode of action of peptaibol inhibitors. To this end, the in vitro parasite line 3D7 was synchronized and exposed in the trophozoite stage to an EC50 concentration of the inhibitor xanthoquionodin A1 I for 1 hour, or to a DMSO vehicle control. Total RNA was then extracted from parasite cellular material that had been separated from the host cell. A comparison of the expression levels of the messenger RNA and long non coding RNA was then performed between the treated and control samples. Multiple compounds tested alongside each other with a shared DMSO vehicle control which is published at BioProject: PRJNA1018932.
