The genus Bordetella contains nine designated species, three of which are so closely related that they are considered subspecies and are referred to as the “Classical Bordetella”; B. pertussis, B. parapertussis and B. bronchiseptica. These subspecies are phylogenetically closely related, yet differ in some of the most interesting and important characteristics of pathogens including host range, virulence and persistence. For a more comprehensive picture of lineage evolution, we sequenced seven additional diverse Classical Bordetella isolates. Conducting comparative analyses of these strains with published genomes will give us insight into the pan-genome of the Classical Bordetellae, reflecting the substantial phenotypic diversity of these versatile subspecies in various hosts.
博德特菌属(Bordetella)共包含9个已正式命名的物种,其中3个亲缘关系极为紧密,被归为亚种群,统称为“经典博德特菌(Classical Bordetella)”,具体包括百日咳博德特菌(B. pertussis)、副百日咳博德特菌(B. parapertussis)与支气管败血博德特菌(B. bronchiseptica)。这些亚种在系统发育层面亲缘关系紧密,但在宿主范围、毒力与定植持久性等病原体核心且极具研究价值的特征上存在显著差异。为更全面地解析该类群的谱系进化历程,本研究对另外7株来源各异的经典博德特菌分离株完成了全基因组测序。通过将本次测序的菌株与已公开的基因组开展比较分析,可深入解析经典博德特菌的泛基因组特征,进而揭示这些多功能亚种在不同宿主中展现出的丰富表型多样性。
