NRS-21214 | Records of the inquiry into the proposal by Coffs Harbour City Council for an effluent disposal scheme including ocean outfall at Look-At-Me-Now Headland

This inquiry, established under Section 119 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (Act No.203, 1979), was held between 9 November and 23 December 1993 before Commissioner Mark Carleton who was appointed on 7 September 1993. (1) The Commissioner's report was published in March 1994. (2)The records include submissions from Coffs Harbour City Council; Camp Scott Furphy; Department of Planning; Environment Protection Authority; NSW Fisheries; National Parks and Wildlife Service; Department of Conservation and Land Management; Public Works Department, and various environmental and community organisations, and individuals. The submissions cover a wide range of issues, particularly methods, and the effects, of different wastewater treatments and the significance of the Look-At-Me-Now Headland area in the Dreamtime mythology and traditions of the local Aboriginal community. Background documents, and reports from John McCraken, assistant to the Commissioner, are also included.The material includes paper documents, maps, plans and videotapes.Endnotes1.
