A stream mesocosm system called ExStream was used to investigate the effects of flow velocity, temperature, and salinity during stressor application and release to the microbial community of a freshwater stream. Samples for 16S rRNA gene analysis, metagenomic, and metatranscriptomic sequencing were taken after stressor phase and recovery phase of 14 days, respectively.
