KI01-006 - The Tooke' (a magical platform)

A story told by Lawrence Poduga. In the past, when a person was sick for a long time, people used the "Tooke'", a special wooden platform that was built to search for the poison man or woman. The wooden platform was built only by special people, where sacrifices were offered to feed the ancestors of the sick and to help find the poison person. The platform was believed to have the power to dig up or find places where the sick person's belongings were buried by the poison person, making the person sick. After the Tooke', the sick person was cured, other times the sick person died. Tooke' is no longer practiced.. Language as given:

本数据集内容为劳伦斯·波杜加（Lawrence Poduga）讲述的一则故事。从前，当有人长期患病时，人们会使用「Tooke'」——一种专为搜寻施毒者打造的特制木质高台。该高台仅由特定人员搭建，人们会在此举行献祭仪式，以供奉病患的先祖，并协助寻获施毒者。人们相信，这座高台能够挖掘出或找到被施毒者藏匿的病患私人物品——正是这些物品引致了病患的病痛。在施行「Tooke'」仪式后，部分病患得以痊愈，另有部分病患最终离世。如今，「Tooke'」这一习俗已不再被施行。
