Selection of chitin degrading bacterial communities starting from natural marine environments (Marine sponge, Coral, seawater, sediment)sampled in Portugal

This project aimed to characterize bacterial communities from three natural marine environments sampled in Southern Portugal: a marine sponge (Sarcotragus spinosulus), a coral (Eunicella labiata) and its surrounding sediment and seawater. Starting from the bacterial communities from these environments, bacterial communities efficient at degrading chitin were selected in media containing chitin as the sole source of carbon and nitrogen.

本研究旨在对葡萄牙南部采集的三类天然海洋生境中的细菌群落进行表征：海洋海绵（Sarcotragus spinosulus）、珊瑚（Eunicella labiata）及其周边沉积物与海水。以此类生境中的细菌群落为起始材料，本研究在以几丁质（chitin）作为唯一碳氮源的培养基中，筛选获得了高效降解几丁质的细菌群落。
