Cascading effects of Sudden Oak Death

This project was established to study the effects of sudden oak death induced mortality on tanoaks on soil microbial communities. In particular, we were interested in the effect on the richness and composition of fungi that are mutualistically associated with tanoak trees, ectomycorrhizal fungi. This is one of the first molecular characterizations of soil microbes associated with redwood tanoak forests本项目旨在探究栎树猝死病（sudden oak death）引发的丹栎（tanoak）死亡对土壤微生物群落的影响。具体而言，我们重点关注该病害对与丹栎形成互利共生关系的真菌——外生菌根真菌（ectomycorrhizal fungi）的丰富度与群落组成的影响。本研究是首批针对红杉-丹栎林（redwood tanoak forests）关联土壤微生物开展分子特征解析的研究之一。
