piRNA 3' end formation and phasing in Aedes aegypti

In this study, we provide new insights into the biogenesis mechanisms that govern piRNA 3' end generation and maturation in Aedes mosquitoes. Additionally, we provide data showing that endogenous piRNAs are able to target newly infecting viruses. Moreover, piRNA production is expanded beyond the site of initial targeting, indicating the piRNA pathway may be able to adapt to novel viruses.

本研究针对伊蚊（Aedes mosquitoes）中调控PIWI互作RNA（Piwi-interacting RNA，简称piRNA）3'端生成与成熟的生物发生机制提供了全新见解。此外，本研究通过实验数据证实，内源性piRNA能够靶向新入侵的病毒。进一步分析发现，piRNA的生成范围超出了初始靶向位点，这表明piRNA通路或可适配新型病毒。
