Cimex lectularius, known as the common bed bug, is a hematophagous human ectoparasite which is not known to be a significant vector of human infectious diseases. The objective was to examine the virome of human bed bugs and bat bugs (Cimex spp.) with a focus on identifying viral reads matching to viral families important for human health.
