In 2023, there were approximately 38.35 thousand beauty salon vocational school students and 1.8 thousand barber vocational school students in Japan. The large difference in students between the faculty types reflects to some extent the reality in terms of facility numbers; there are more beauty salons than barber shops, with the gap becoming larger every year.
