Quarterly CO₂ emissions from transportation in the United Kingdom 2015-2023

Quarterly domestic transportation carbon dioxide emissions in the United Kingdom averaged an estimated 27.3 million metric tons (MtCO₂) in 2023. Q3 recorded the highest transportation-related emissions that year, at 28.1 MtCO₂. The lowest transportation sector emissions between 2015 and 2023 were observed in Q2 2020, following lockdowns and travel restrictions brought on by the outbreak of COVID-19. Emissions that quarter were more than 40 percent below what they were in Q2 2019.
