eDNA metabarcoding of fish diversity in the Okavango Delta. freshwater metagenome

The Okavango is one of the world's freshwater biodiversity hotspots. In this project we utilized eDNA metabarcoding of samples collected in May 2019 to determine community diversity of fishes and detected 12 fo 15 known families across 23, which represents -50% of known fish diversity in this region. Our results show that eDNA metabarcoding with the MiFish primers is a suitable tool for biomonitoring fish communities in the region.

奥卡万戈（Okavango）是全球淡水生物多样性热点区域之一。本研究利用2019年5月采集的样本开展环境DNA metabarcoding（eDNA metabarcoding）分析，以解析鱼类群落多样性；共在23个类群中检测到12至15个已知科，约占该区域已知鱼类多样性的50%。研究结果表明，采用MiFish引物（MiFish primers）的环境DNA metabarcoding技术，可作为该区域鱼类群落生物监测的适宜工具。
