The Regional Phytosanitary Sector transposes the delimitation of the buffer zones relating to Popillia japonica that affect several Ligurian municipalities due to their proximity to the infested area present in Piedmont and Lombardy. It is a quarantine pest relevant for the European Union (ALL II B REG 2019/2072) already present in other areas of Italy and Europe and which attacks more than 300 plant species: adults defoliate tree, horticultural and ornamental plants (vine, cherry, plum, apple, hazel, etc.), larvae devastate turf and pastures.
