Paired benthic algae DNA and morphology samples were collected in wadeable streams throughout California as part of annual sampling campaigns. DNA metabarcode sequencing targeting the 16S, 18S, and rbcL regions were used to identify algae species present for comparison to microscopy-based taxonomy.
