Induction of dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) in a green seaweed by airborne dimethyl sulfide (DMS)

This dataset contains DMSP concentrations from field and laboratory experiments that looked at the induction of the defensive metabolite dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) in an intertidal seaweed Ulva fenestrata by airborne chemical cues. In the field experiment, U. fenestrata were exposed to two potential elicitors that are released when U. fenestrata is damaged by herbivores or physiologically stressed, acrylic acid and dimethyl sulfide (DMS). Responses to the elicitors were measured over 11 days.
