COI Metabarcoding reads for Pyrgulopsis spring snails

These reads were generated as part of a project to identify water sources/springs occupied by spring snails within the genus Pyrgulopsis. Prevalent throughout the U.S. desert Southwest, these tiny gastropods are increasingly a conservation concern for land managers throughout the region. An eDNA assay was designed that uses a metabarcoding strategy to detect Pyrgulopsis from water samples filtered from various sources in the desert Southwest. This enables non-invasive detection of this imperiled group in order to help land managers prioritize localities when formulating conservation strategies.
