The purpose of the dataset C. elegans terminal bulb aging is to deduce the age of the nemathode based on images of the pharynx terminal bulb (part of the eating apparatus). Images of C. elegans were taken at different chronological ages. This image is part of the day 4 data set. Note that the morphological and chronological ages are not fully correlated due to the variability among individuals even though the individuals are genetically identical. The source for the dataset is Laboratory of Genetics/NIA/NIH.本数据集为秀丽隐杆线虫（Caenorhabditis elegans，C. elegans）咽端球衰老数据集，其核心研究目标为基于线虫咽端球（属于其摄食器官）的图像推断线虫的年龄。该数据集采集了不同实足年龄的秀丽隐杆线虫图像，本次展示的图像为第4日龄数据集的组成部分。需注意，即便个体遗传背景完全一致，由于个体间存在表型异质性，其形态年龄与实足年龄仍无法完全相关。该数据集的来源为美国国立卫生研究院（NIH）下属的美国国立衰老研究所（NIA）遗传学实验室。
