Kokum (Garcinia indica Choissy) is widely and commercially cultivated woody tree species. This cross pollinated, polygamodioecious species has separate male and female plants. No morphological and biochemical differences exist between male and female plants. This compels the cultivators to maintain large population of plants for longer period of time. NGS approach was used for investigating the transcriptome of male, female and bisexual flowers to develop molecular marker technology for identification of sex specific transcripts. The molecular marker technology approach in Kokum will enable the cultivators to save time, space and cost
Kokum (Garcinia indica Choissy) 是一种广泛商业化栽培的木本树种。该异花授粉的杂性异株物种为雌雄异株,且雌雄植株之间不存在形态学与生化层面的差异。这一特性迫使种植者需长期维持大规模的植株种群。研究团队采用下一代测序(Next-Generation Sequencing,NGS)技术,对雄花、雌花及两性花的转录组展开分析,以开发用于鉴定性别特异性转录本的分子标记技术。针对Kokum的该分子标记技术将助力种植者节约时间、空间与种植成本。
