Garcinia indica Transcriptome or Gene expression

Kokum (Garcinia indica Choissy) is widely and commercially cultivated woody tree species. This cross pollinated, polygamodioecious species has separate male and female plants. No morphological and biochemical differences exist between male and female plants. This compels the cultivators to maintain large population of plants for longer period of time. NGS approach was used for investigating the transcriptome of male, female and bisexual flowers to develop molecular marker technology for identification of sex specific transcripts.
