Integrated positive and negative analyses of cognitive mediation strategies in the social quarrels

Data collection starts with searching all the videos closely related to social quarrels in public places in TikTok. Every instance portrays the strategies used by various interlocutors to terminate or intensify the ongoing quarrel in social talks. We, therefore, transcribed the data using the transcription software (Raymond, 2019) designed for cognitive mediation, focusing on the main framework of social talks (Kadar 2016). We demonstrate these clips to illustrate the application of cognitive mediation with verbal or nonverbal strategies. This transcribing instrument is analyzed quantitatively, leading eventually to a grouping of the four categories of cognitive mediation: fairness of mediation, gradualness of mediation, subsidence of mediation and consistency of mediation.

本数据集的采集流程始于检索TikTok平台上所有与公共场所社交争吵高度相关的视频。每个样本均刻画了不同对话者在社交对话中用于终止或升级当前争吵的各类策略。为此，我们采用专为认知调解（cognitive mediation）设计的转写软件（Raymond, 2019）对数据开展转写工作，研究重点聚焦于社交对话的核心分析框架（Kadar, 2016）。我们选取上述视频片段，用以演示认知调解借助言语或非言语策略的应用实践。后续我们对该转写工具进行量化分析，最终将认知调解划分为四大类别：调解公平性、调解渐进性、调解平息性与调解一致性。
