Diabetes Mellitus in Nepal from 2000 to 2020: A systematic review and meta-analysis

The systematic review was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42020215247) and was documented according to the Meta-Analysis of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (MOOSE) guidelines. We used electronic databases like PubMed, PubMed Central, Scopus, Google Scholar, and Embase to search relevant articles from 2000 to 2020 using the appropriate keywords like “diabetes mellitus”, “high blood sugar”, “type 2 diabetes”, “prevalence”, “risk factor” and “Nepal” along with relevant Boolean operators. The eligibility criteria for inclusion were:1. All papers (cross-sectional studies, case series reporting more than 50 patients, cohort study, RCTs) mentioning prevalence of Type 2 DM and/or detail of DM like risk factors, outcome, and outcome predictors 2. Studies conducted from 2000 onwards till 2020 3. Studies in Nepal only. 4. Published articles. We excluded 1. Editorials, commentaries, viewpoint articles with no proper data of diabetes mellitus and lacking adequate data of interest will be excluded. 2. Studies conducted outside Nepal. 3. Studies before 1999 AD.4. Studies of Type 1 DM and GDM.

本系统综述已在PROSPERO平台完成注册，并严格遵循《流行病学观察性研究Meta分析报告规范》（Meta-Analysis of Observational Studies in Epidemiology, MOOSE）指南进行撰写。本研究通过PubMed、PubMed Central、Scopus、Google Scholar及Embase等电子数据库，以“糖尿病（diabetes mellitus）”“高血糖（high blood sugar）”“2型糖尿病（type 2 diabetes）”“患病率（prevalence）”“危险因素（risk factor）”“尼泊尔（Nepal）”为关键词，结合布尔逻辑运算符，检索了2000年至2020年间的相关文献。

本次研究的纳入标准如下：
1. 所有提及2型糖尿病（Type 2 DM）患病率，或包含糖尿病相关危险因素、转归及转归预测因素等细节的文献，包括横断面研究、病例数≥50例的病例系列研究、队列研究及随机对照试验（RCTs）；
2. 研究开展时间为2000年至2020年；
3. 研究地域仅限尼泊尔；
4. 已发表的正式学术文章。

本研究排除以下文献：
1. 未提供有效糖尿病相关数据、且缺乏核心研究所需充分数据的社论、评论及观点性文章；
2. 研究地域位于尼泊尔境外的文献；
3. 研究开展时间早于公元1999年的文献；
4. 针对1型糖尿病及妊娠期糖尿病（GDM）的研究。
