Antarctic soil microbial communities from the Antarctic peninsula

16S amplicon dataset of Antarctic Peninsula soils. Soils without plant cover were sampled from between Signy Island (60°S) in the South Orkney Islands and Alexander Island (72°S) in the southern maritime Antarctic in the 2007–2008 austral spring and summer. Universal bacterial 16S rRNA genes were amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using the primers 926F (5'-AAA CTY AAA KGA ATT GRC GG-3') and 1392wR (5'-ACG GGC GGT GWG TRC-3').
