To inform questions about carbon (C) storage and nutrient status, we repeated measurements of mineral soil total C, total nitrogen (N), and extractable phosphorus (P) on a chronosequence of replicated (<i>n</i> = 3) planted longleaf pine stands of various age classes. We also repeated measurements of soil C and nutrients in three never-tilled naturally regenerated stands dominated by longleaf pine. The study site was located at The Jones Center at Ichauway in southwestern Georgia, USA, which is in the Gulf of Mexico coastal plain (31°19ʹN, 80°20ʹW).
