About 40% IBD patients treated with anti-TNF antibodies do not respond to therapy. Baseline biomarkers of response are therefore of interest. By combining computational deconvolution of gene expression and meta-analysis approaches we identified cellular biomarkers in tissue (validated in 2 cohorts by IHC of biopsies), and investigated associated gene biomarkers in blood. This dataset provides data from the validation cohort III (blood). Whole blood samples were collected from 22 patients diagnosed with Crohn's disease, just before starting anti-TNF therapy (Infliximab). All patients were naive to anti-TNF. Response to therapy was assessed after 14 weeks based on changes in CRP and Calprotectin, as well as endoscopy (Responders: 17; Non-responders: 5). The prognostic power of genes identified to be related to cellular biomarkers identified from meta-analysis of public datasets of biopsy tissues were investigated.
