Meta analysis of prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in pregnant women in China

Objectives Prevalence of vitamin D deficiency among pregnant women in China from 2010 to 2023: a systematic review.method CNKI, WanFang, VIP, CBM, PubMed and Embase databases were electronically searched to collect relevant studies on vitamin D deficiency in pregnant women in China. Two reviewers independently screened literature, extracted data and evaluated the risk of bias of eligible studies. Then, Meta analysis was performed using Stata 12. 0 software. Results A total of 29 studies containing 294 494 patients with vitamin D deficiency were enrolled. The total sample size was 264 090. The overall prevalence of vitamin D deficiency among Chinese pregnant women was 52.4%[95% CI (46.6%, 58.2%)] according to meta-analysis. The results of subgroup analysis showed that the prevalence rate in the Midwest region [57.9%(95% CI: 31.9%, 83.9%)] was higher than that in the eastern region (49.5%)(95% CI: 42.8%, 56.3%)] and 47.2%[95% CI] in the first, second, and third trimester, respectively （32.7%，61.8%）]、48.1%[95%CI (37.4%, 58.8%)] and 36.2%[95% CI The prevalence of vitamin D deficiency was 66.4%(95%CI) in spring, summer, autumn and winter, respectively （58.3%，74.6%）]、49.4%[95%CI （40.7%，58.2%）]、53.0%[95%CI (40.5%, 65.4%)] and 62.9%[95% CI (43.5%, 82.3%)]; the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in pregnant women aged 25, 25-30, and 30 years was 52.4%[95% CI (38.3%, 66.6%)], 50.3%[95% CI (38.8%, 61.9%)], and 50.2%[95% CI (38.7%, 61.6%)], respectively.conclusion The prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in pregnant women is high in China, but there are some differences in the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency among pregnant women in different regions and seasons. More attention should be paid to the intervention of high-risk groups in improving vitamin D supplementation for pregnant women.
