VPRS 18897 Finance and Audit Committees, Minutes

This series comprises meeting minutes for the Finance Committee of the Mount Royal Hospital (VA 1248). Also included is a set of minutes for the Audit Committee of the Melbourne Extended Care and Rehabilitation Service (VA 5265). The Finance Committee's function was to maintain a broad oversight of financial and budgetary arrangements to ensure that the Board of Management’s financial policies were appropriate and effective, and were being administered in accordance with sound business practices. Additionally, the Finance Committee made recommendations on the investment of funds and raising of funds including government grants for both maintenance and capital purposes. The Audit Committee's function was to review the scope of internal and external audits, and monitor agreed actions. This included reviewing annual financial reports for compliance with statutory requirements and accounting principles. There are no known extant minutes from 1981 – 1985.
