For micelles, can the solvent be treated as a benign medium, described by its density, or is it necessary to consider explicitly the solvent chemical identity and structure? The unique aspect of this proposal is the use of specialized sample environment, a temperature-pressure (T-P) cell, loaned from ILL as pre-agreed with ISIS and ILL instrument scientists. Using this cell, it will be uniquely possible to control thermodynamic conditions to achieve “iso-density” solvents (see Figures 1 and 3), and hence explore a previously inaccessible solvent landscape.
针对胶束(micelle)体系,能否将溶剂视为仅以密度即可表征的良性介质,还是必须明确考量溶剂的化学属性与分子结构?本研究方案的独特之处在于采用了专用样品环境装置——温压(T-P)池,该装置经与ISIS及ILL仪器科学家预先协商后从ILL借用。借助此装置,可精准调控热力学条件以获得等密度(iso-density)溶剂(见图1、图3),进而探索此前难以触及的溶剂参数空间。
