Recent in vivo studies by our group revealed that some proteins increased acid-resistant proteins in the acquired enamel pellicle (AEP) after challenges with citric acid. This makes the use of these proteins to control the dental biofilm particularly attractive. Thus, the present proof-of-concept study was designed to pave the way for the use of some proteins to control caries through acquired pellicle and biofilm engineering. Combining in vivo and in vitro protocols and employing state-of-the-art OMICS techniques, our aim was to evaluate whether proteins can alter the proteome of the AEP and consequently interfere with initial bacterial colonization and enamel demineralization.
本团队近期的体内实验研究显示,经柠檬酸刺激后,牙釉质获得性膜(acquired enamel pellicle, AEP)内的耐酸蛋白水平有所升高。这使得利用此类蛋白调控牙生物膜成为极具吸引力的研究方向。因此,本概念验证研究旨在为通过牙釉质获得性膜与生物膜工程手段应用相关蛋白防治龋病铺平道路。本研究结合体内与体外实验方案,并采用前沿组学(OMICS)技术,旨在探究相关蛋白能否改变牙釉质获得性膜的蛋白质组,进而干扰初始细菌定植与牙釉质脱矿过程。
